About us…

The before and after-school care Les Copains is located within the Rose-des-Vents school in Vancouver and uses its premises (playground, classrooms, gymnasium, etc.)

Founded in 2002, the SDG has evolved greatly over the years and was renamed "Les Copains" in 2008.

Currently, our license allows us a maximum capacity of 135 children per day.

We are open from Monday to Friday from:

- 7:30 am to 8:30 am for before-school care

- 2:55 pm to 6 pm for after-school care

Every day, when the bell sounds, the children enrolled come to us directly when they just finished classes to give their presence to the educators

When all the children are gathered, there is an hour of free play time, the duration varies according to the time and the season. Educators supervise children who enjoy themselves for socializing, playing and eating snacks with friends

At the end of the free time, the children are divided into small groups (12 to 15 maximum according to the age) in the classrooms inside the school. Each educator leads a prepared activity that starts with about 15 minutes of homework.

Every two weeks, each educator develops a new activity in which children are registered in relation to their ages and interests. The activities offered are varied (sports, games, arts, crafts, cooking, science, theater and improvisation, etc.) and educators work alternately in different age groups.

Our Philosophy

Le Service de Garde Les Copains offers students of the Rose-des-Vents school organized activities and free games in French.

We are committed to providing a warm and safe environment and activities that promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical development that values inclusiveness, multiculturalism, interdependence and respect.

Our educators also have a responsibility to ensure the harmonious development of children, socially, psychologically, linguistically and physically.

It is important for our team to stimulate, supervise and intervene in social interactions between children in order to help them keep and improve their relationships.

Thanks to the varied and complementary competences of the educators, we adapt our interventions to the different stages of the children's development from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

For example, here are several initiatives in place:

  • Graduate program for the integration of kindergartens at the beginning of the school year with a follow-up throughout the year, in order to offer the children a gentle and supervised departure

  • Renewed Program for Major (Grades 5-6) and New Special Events for All Ages

  • Active and personalized support for children with special needs
